Well, I met up with the lady, her name is Therese, she is American, and came to Sri Lanka first when she was 23. And then she went back and started a children home under an organization called Community Concern Society, they help a lot of people. And she created under them the home called Lotus Buds and she started with 17 children and then in three years went up to 22. Most of them have grown up now, and she had them to start with when they were babies and now they are getting married and have jobs, are moving out, and so today she has only 10 left.
It's a foster home really for children but they raise the standard, she noticed that so many homes are just so poor and they are not well kept and the children are not looked after well and so she raised the standard and helps other homes raise their standards across the country. It's really good and they get involved in a lot of stuff. But even though I won't be volunteering there, I know that her help is going to be needed for administrative tips and to help get the home on it's feet, as when she came she had to do it all herself and so she knows how it goes, what needs to be done and how to do it, what the government wants etc....so for me that is good!
So that was quite a good meeting, I actually went to the church to meet her, but actually a driver was there waiting for me, and I got in the car and he took me on a trip 20 minutes away! I hadn't a clue where I was going, and he wasn't making conversation with me, and so it really was quite exciting!! Usually it's not advisable to get into cars on your own with men you don't know!!!
I am also thinking at the moment about getting a dual citizenship....that would allow me to stay here forever and I wouldn't need to have a marriage of convenience....just kidding!!! But that is in my mind at the moment....
