HAPPY NEW YEAR...

Happy New Year everyone!!
Well, I went to the midnight service, it started at 10pm, and the pastor preached right through the midnight hour...and then the bangs were a little too loud so he had to pause a little...but there was no countdown....nor was there a midnight toast...with champagne...ever....!!!!!!!
But I realize that I am part of a really good church, the people are really nice and seem to be open to new ideas...whether they adopt them is one thing, but they are open, so there is an area of influence!!
I attended my first Sunday School Teacher meeting and so that was nice!! There are several teachers, 3 Singhala Tamil teachers, and 3 English speaking teachers, so we take it in turns, so that is good.
And today I went for the first time as a volunteer to the Special Needs School, called Bethel Care Centre. Today there were 11 people, from the ages of about 7 to 37! And some of them have down syndrome, some are autistic, some just are not formed properly, one can't walk and they all have learning disabilities. But the two teachers there are from the church I attend, and one is 22 and the other is 31, and they are really nice and it's really nice to work with them. So I will be going there everyday from about 7.30 to 1pm!!
I also spent 3 hours burning CDs of the sermon on Sunday, that is also my new job, I burn the CDs of the sermon!!!
Also this month I am organizing the youth outing...it's going to be in a nature park, we will visit there, and spend the day playing and having fun, and then have lunch there also....and...it's all paid for by the church, so that is good, but that is the opening of the Youth Group. I also have a guy helping me with it, he will assist, and translate when necessary and participate in the leadership of the group, so that is good. He is 22 and wants to do youth work, so this is a good opportunity for him!!
I have high hopes for the year 2009!!! What I am doing at the moment is another step forward, and I am gaining more experience and it's necessary, but I know that I am on track and being formed and growing, I didn't know how things were going to happen when I left for Sri Lanka, but God really had it all planned out!, it's really amazing how little effort I am having to put in to knowing what to do, next, God keeps providing and putting things on my path, and I know that in the long run, this is all valuble stuff that I am learning!!!!!!!!
Tomorrow I am going to be visiting a lawyer that attends the church I go to. I will explain my situation for the dual citizenship and she will advise and help me and maybe find me a lawyer that is specialized in that area....it's good, bit by bit I will get there!! Even though it's difficult to get, and there are lots of obstacles in the way, I know that in this situation it doesn't mean that it isn't God's plan, but that I must stand in faith, trust and expect to get it... and I will get it!!

If it's Gods will nothing or no-one will stand in the way - it might be tough. But when it's Gods will there's always a way.
Sounds like you are doing some great stuff.
The opportunity to lead the youth group sounds fantastic.
Missed you at Christmas.
Take care
